Don't Forget To Breathe!

We are approaching the tale end of the busy season. At this point, majority of accountants are tired of long hours, endless deadlines, and clients who are constantly breathing down your neck can make for a particularly challenging time. Here are some tips to go through the rest of the busy season with your sanity intact!

1. Prioritize your tasks wisely

During busy season, there's always more work to be done than there are hours in the day. So, it's essential to prioritize your tasks wisely. Focus on the most critical and time-sensitive tasks first, and leave less important work for later. As they say, "eat the frog first" - get the most challenging or unpleasant task out of the way in the morning so you can feel more relaxed for the rest of the day.

2. Take breaks

It might seem counterintuitive to take breaks when you're swamped with work, but it's actually crucial to stay productive and avoid burnout. Take short breaks throughout the day to stretch your legs, get some fresh air, or simply step away from your computer screen. You'll come back to your work with renewed focus and energy.

3. Fuel yourself with healthy snacks

It's tempting to fuel yourself with caffeine and junk food during busy season, but that will only lead to a crash later on. Instead, try to snack on healthy foods that will give you sustained energy throughout the day, such as nuts, fruit, and protein bars. Plus, you'll feel better about yourself in the long run.

4. Don't forget to laugh

It's essential to maintain a sense of humor during busy season. Make jokes with your coworkers, watch a funny video during your lunch break, or listen to a comedy podcast during your commute. Laughter is the best medicine, and it will help you stay sane during the most stressful times.

5. Lean on your support system

During busy season, it's easy to feel isolated and overwhelmed. That's why it's crucial to lean on your support system, whether that's your coworkers, friends, or family. Talk to someone who understands what you're going through, and don't be afraid to ask for help when you need it.

I get it. Busy season can be tough (I've done 7 of them my self) , but it doesn't have to be unbearable. By following these witty tips, you'll be able to survive this time of year with your sense of humor and your sanity intact. So, grab a healthy snack, take a short break, and remember to laugh. You've got this, accountants!
